Product details

The Jandy R0358400 is the inlet elbow for the DEV series DE filter, supplied together with its o-ring. It fits the DEV48 and DEV60.

What it does

The elbow carries water from the inlet port into the tank and turns it at the angle the filter was designed around. It is a small molded part under constant pressure, which is why it is a familiar leak point: the shoulder cracks, or the o-ring takes a permanent set and no longer seals when the filter is reassembled after a DE change.

Fitting

Because the o-ring comes with the elbow, the joint goes back together on a fresh seal rather than a reused one. Give the o-ring a thin film of silicone lubricant before assembly, and check the mating face is clean, since a trace of old DE on the seat is enough to hold a weep.

Does the o-ring come with it?
Yes. The elbow is supplied with its o-ring.
Which filters does it fit?
The Jandy DEV series DE filters, models DEV48 and DEV60. If your filter is a CV, CL or DEL series, check the parts diagram for your exact model before ordering, since those families are listed separately.
Why would the elbow need replacing?
A hairline crack at the threaded shoulder, or a seat that will no longer hold the o-ring, both give a persistent weep at the inlet that no amount of tightening cures.
Should I lubricate the o-ring?
Yes, a thin film of silicone lubricant on the o-ring helps it seat and makes the next removal easier. Avoid petroleum grease, which swells the rubber.
