Product details

The Jandy R0405200 is the tank retaining ring, the clamping ring that holds a filter tank closed. It is the genuine Jandy part.

What it does

A filter tank is built in two halves with a seal between them. The retaining ring draws those halves together and keeps that seal compressed against operating pressure. Everything the filter does depends on that joint staying closed, which makes the ring one of the few filter parts that is genuinely safety relevant.

Checking the fit

When to replace

Replace a ring that is cracked, distorted, badly corroded, or whose hardware has stripped. Do not try to compensate by overtightening. While the tank is open, look at the tank seal as well, because a fresh ring will not stop a leak caused by a tired o-ring.

What does the retaining ring do?

Can I just retighten a cracked ring?
