Why fine mesh
A coarse net handles leaves and large debris, and lets everything else through. In spring, when pollen, seeds and fine silt land on the water faster than the filter can clear them, a fine mesh bag is the tool that actually takes them out. It pulls harder through the water than a coarse net, which is the trade for what it catches.
Rake, not a flat skimmer
