The Skimlite SP400 is the Spartan wide mouth leaf rake, a hand net for pulling leaves and floating debris out of a pool.

Why the wide mouth

The wider frame takes in more water on each pass. After a windy night or a heavy leaf drop that difference is the gap between a five minute job and a twenty minute one.

Where it fits in the routine

Skimming by hand is what keeps the rest of the system working. A pool left to load up chokes the skimmer basket, packs a cleaner and makes the pump work against a restriction. Taking the bulk out first leaves the filter and the cleaner handling what they are actually good at.
