Quick overview

  • EliptiLock system The lock is built into the tubes themselves, so there are no small parts to fall out or break.
  • Quick on and off Turn to lock, turn to release, which suits work that needs to be done fast.
  • 8 ft to 16 ft Two piece pole that closes to 8 feet and extends to 16.
  • Lightweight version The 3008 is the lighter weight build in the Eliptilock family, alongside the heavy duty 3006, 3118 and 3516.
  • How the lock works The inner and outer tubes are formed slightly out of round, and turning one against the other creates the friction that locks them.
  • A long running design The EliptiLock has been one of the most used Skimlite locking mechanisms for decades.

Product details

The Skimlite 3008 is a two piece telescoping pool pole from the 3000 Eliptilock series, closing to 8 feet and extending to 16. It is the lighter weight build in that family.

How the EliptiLock works

The lock is part of the tubing rather than an add on. The outside tube is formed slightly out of round, the inside tube is formed to match, and turning one against the other creates the friction that holds the pole at length. There is no cam, collar or pin, so there is nothing to fall out on the deck or break in the middle of a job.

Light or heavy duty

Skimlite builds the Eliptilock in both weights. The 3008 and 3500 are the lighter poles, while the 3006, 3118 and 3516 are the heavy duty versions. The lighter pole suits handling a net or brush through a long day; the heavy duty poles suit harder use.

The quick lock and release makes this pole well suited to route work, where the pole is extended, used and collapsed several times an hour.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

How long does it extend?
From 8 feet closed to 16 feet extended, in two sections.
How does the lock work?
The outer tube is formed slightly out of round and the inner tube matches it. Turning one against the other creates friction and locks the pole at length.
Is this the heavy duty pole?
No. The 3008 is the lighter weight build. The heavy duty Eliptilock poles are the 3006, 3118 and 3516.
Are there parts that can break in the lock?
No. The EliptiLock is formed into the tubes, so there is no cam, pin or collar to lose.
