Quick overview

  • Outside lock The external locking design Skimlite has built since 1959, in plastics chosen for the job.
  • 8' to 16' Two piece pole that runs from 8 ft closed to 16 ft extended.
  • Heavy wall tubing Built with heavy wall tubing, for the most demanding jobs.
  • Pressed nylon fitting The nylon male fitting is pressed onto the outside tube under enormous pressure, so it does not come off.
  • Replaceable fittings The female and ferrule fittings are easily replaced when they wear, so the pole is serviced rather than scrapped.
  • The internal lock alternative The 5009 uses the same tubing with a patented internal lock, and the Dually series carries both locks.

Product details

The Skimlite 5008 is a two piece telescopic pool pole from the 5000 single cam series, with the outside lock, and it runs from 8 ft to 16 ft.

The outside lock

The 5008 was created in 1959 and was the first telescopic pole made for the pool industry. The appeal is its simplicity: an external locking cam and heavy wall tubing, with nothing hidden inside the pole to go wrong. The nylon male fitting is pressed onto the outside tube under enormous pressure so it will not fall off, and the female and ferrule fittings can be replaced when they wear instead of retiring the pole.

Outside lock or inside lock

The 5009 uses the same tubing with a patented internal lock, and the Dually series combines both. All three are industry favorites, so the choice comes down to whether your crews prefer working an external or an internal locking assembly.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

How far does it extend?
From 8 ft closed to 16 ft extended, in two pieces.
Is the lock inside or outside the pole?
Outside. This is the external locking pole. The 5009 is the version with the patented internal lock, and the Dually series has both.
Can worn fittings be replaced?
Yes. The female and ferrule fittings are easily replaced when they wear. The nylon male fitting is pressed onto the outside tube under heavy pressure and stays put.
Why choose the outside lock?
It has been an industry favorite since 1959 and it is simple to use. Choosing between the external and internal lock is mostly preference, since both poles use the same tubing.
