Product details

The Skimlite 6012 is a two section telescoping pool pole from the 6000 Snaplite Series, running from 6 ft collapsed to 12 ft fully out. It is locked with a push button rather than a twist cam.

How the lock behaves

The button lock is the mechanism painters have used for years. Press the button, slide the inner section, release it into the next hole. There is nothing to tighten, nothing to overtighten, and no friction joint that gradually stops holding as the pole ages. The length you set is the length you get.

The shape of the tube

Snaplite poles are not round. The tube has a ten sided decagon profile, and the flat faces lock the sections against each other rotationally. That matters more than it sounds: a round pole lets the head twist away from you while you are brushing a wall, and a decagon one does not. The same matched profile keeps the sections sliding cleanly instead of jamming partway.

What it works with

It takes the standard pool tools you already own, brushes, leaf nets, vacuum heads and skimmers, so it slots into an existing kit as a replacement for a pole that has started slipping.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

How does the button lock work?
You press the spring loaded button, slide the inner section to the length you want, and let the button seat in the next hole. It holds there until you press it again.
How long does it extend?
From 6 ft collapsed out to 12 ft fully extended.
Why is the pole not round?
The tube has a ten sided decagon profile. Flat faces keep the sections from spinning inside one another, so a brush or net stays pointed where you aimed it.
How is this different from a cam lock pole?
A cam lock is tightened by twisting the sections against each other and can slip once it wears. A button lock drops into a fixed hole, so the length is mechanically set rather than held by friction.
