Product details

The Skimlite R8C is a round skimmer net with an 8 inch net on an aluminum handle. The frame is built from 304 stainless steel and plated spring steel, a combination Skimlite has been using for hand skimmers since 1954.

Why the frame material matters

Most of what kills a skimmer net is the frame, not the mesh. Plain steel frames rust where the plating chips, and plastic frames go brittle in sunlight and snap at the handle joint. Stainless paired with spring steel gives a frame that resists corrosion and flexes rather than taking a permanent bend when it catches the pool wall or a ladder.

How it is used

The round opening and short aluminum handle make this a hand skimmer for quick daily passes, lifting leaves, bugs and pollen off the surface before they sink and start staining. It is not a replacement for a flat leaf rake on a pole when you need to reach the floor or the far side of a large pool.
