Why elements get replaced
A cartridge filter works by trapping dirt in pleated media. Sunscreen, body oils and fine grit all end up in those pleats, and rinsing only recovers part of what is trapped. Pressure climbs, flow drops, and the pool starts to look dull even though the pump is running normally. Once a thorough cleaning no longer brings the starting pressure back down, the media is finished and a new set is the fix.
Fitting and care
The kit drops straight into the existing Protege CFP body, so there is no plumbing to change. Shut the pump off and relieve pressure at the air relief before opening the filter. Many owners keep the second set on hand and rotate them, so the pool keeps filtering while the other set dries after a rinse.
