When to change the elements
Cartridges are a consumable. A good element cleans up when it is washed and the filter pressure drops back to where it started. Once a cleaned cartridge no longer recovers that pressure, or the media is torn, matted flat or permanently gray, washing it again will not help and the element set is due.
Why the OEM kit
The element has to seat correctly against the manifold to work at all. An element built for the RPCFP100 seals where it should, so water goes through the media instead of finding a way around it, and the filter returns the flow and clarity it had when it was new.
