Why the tray fails
Burner trays live in a hot, damp, corrosive place. Condensate, scale falling off the heat exchanger and years of thermal cycling eat at the metal until the flame pattern goes ragged. Yellow tipping, sooting on the tubes and a heater that will not hold temperature all point back to the burners.
