The AquaStar A10RCFR103 is a 10 in. round sumpless suction outlet cover supplied with the universal adapter kit and mud frame. It is compliant with the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act and with ANSI/APSP 16-2011 and NSF/ANSI 50-2009a.
Sumpless, and why that helps
Many replacement covers assume a sump of a particular depth below the drain. This one is rated without a sump, single or multiple drain, at 170 GPM at 1.7 fps through a 31.5 square inch opening. That removes the most common reason a retrofit fails, which is a sump that never matched the cover the installer was handed.
Retrofit and new construction
The universal adapter frame is designed to adapt to existing frames and sumps up to 10 in. round, and a mud frame version covers new pours. For odd sized or non structured frames, AquaStar lists the Brass Anchor Kit p/n BIK4. Cover, adapter plate, frame and screws all meet or exceed the standards above, the screws are #316 stainless, and the polymer is UV resistant and tested to ASTM G154.
The five year rule
Compliant drain covers carry a replacement date. This one is to be replaced five years from the date of installation, whatever condition it appears to be in, and the trademarked VGB compliance button lets an inspector confirm compliance from the deck.
