Product details

A 15 x 30 ft rectangle with the step centered on one long side is the pool this King99 cover was cut for. The panel measures 17 x 32 ft, and the extra foot on each side is the part that lands on the deck and gets anchored down. The step area is 8 ft wide and 4 ft back at the water line.

  • Blue mesh, self draining, so rain and snowmelt end up in the pool rather than on the fabric.
  • Straps on a 5 ft grid, each pulled tight by a stainless steel spring at a flush mount brass anchor.
  • The weave screens out 99 percent of the ultraviolet light algae needs while the pool is closed.
  • Comes with the anchors, springs, installation rod, tamping tool and a storage bag.

The most common closing mistake is dropping the water too far. Cover manufacturers publish that drop as a ceiling, often no more than about 18 in below the top of the pool, and the reason is structural: the water column under the fabric is what resists a snow load pressing down from above. With mesh, the level goes the other way over the winter as rain drains through, so check it now and then and pump it back if it climbs toward the coping. Budget for a doubled algaecide dose at closing too, since some light always reaches the water through a mesh weave. The warranty is 20 years limited, 5 full.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

How far do I drop the water before putting the cover on?
Less than people expect. Manufacturers give the drop as a maximum you must not pass, commonly around 18 in below the top of the pool at most, because the water underneath is the thing holding the cover up when snow sits on it. Draining the pool low is what damages covers.
What pool does this cover fit?
A 15 x 30 ft rectangle with the step in the middle of one long side. The panel is 17 x 32 ft, a foot bigger on each side so the edge lands on the deck.
What are the step section dimensions?
Eight feet wide and 4 ft back at the water line. On a 15 x 30 ft pool that is a sizeable share of one long side, so it suits a typical centered entry step. Measure yours along the wall and out into the water and compare both numbers before ordering.
Can I walk on a safety cover?
It is built to carry weight, not to be a deck. The ASTM F1346 test for a cover on a pool over 8 ft wide puts 485 lb on it in one 3 ft circle, which is the measure of whether it can arrest a fall. Treat the cover as a barrier and keep traffic off it.
