This is the genuine Polaris backup valve case for the 360 BlackMax pool cleaner, part number 9-100-1203, in black. It is the case only, supplied with no mechanism inside.
What the backup valve does
The backup valve interrupts normal operation on a timed cycle and sends water out the back of the cleaner, driving it in reverse for a few seconds. That is how a 360 frees itself from a corner, a step or a main drain instead of sitting there for the rest of the run. When it stops working, the cleaner starts getting stuck in the same spot every time.
Case or complete valve
Order the case when the valve is still cycling correctly but the housing has cracked, split at a seam or lost a hose connection. If the valve has stopped cycling altogether, the internal mechanism is the failure and an empty case will not fix it. Look at which one you actually have before ordering, since these are separate parts.
