Which bag to choose

Polaris makes more than one bag for these cleaners. The leaf bag is the coarse one, meant for leaves and bulky debris. The all purpose bags, sold with either a velcro or a zipper closure, catch finer material. Pools under trees generally do better on the leaf bag through fall.

Why it is worth replacing on schedule

Whatever the bag holds is material that never reaches the pump basket or the filter. A bag with a split seam or a stretched mouth quietly returns its catch to the pool while the cleaner keeps running its pattern, so a bag that has started to leak is worth changing before the filter takes the load.
