The AquaStar A8R105 is an 8 inch Star anti-entrapment cover in dark gray, supplied with a solid riser ring and mud frame, from the VGB Series.

What it is

The cover is manufactured from superior UV-resistant engineered polymers and uses #316 stainless steel screws. It has a 16.0 square inch opening. AquaStar states that it meets or exceeds ANSI/APSP 16-2011 and NSF 50-2008 national standards and ASTM G154 UV testing, and that it is listed with IAPMO R&T.

Flow ratings

The cover is rated for single or multiple drain use, with details in the installation instructions. A single drain with a 3 inch sump is rated 145 GPM at 2.8 fps on the floor and 84 GPM at 1.7 fps on a wall. A single sumpless drain is rated 140 GPM at 2.8 fps on the floor and 84 GPM at 1.7 fps on a wall. The floor or wall rating is 75 GPM at 1.5 fps. AquaStar also makes additional sump versions.

Fit and replacement

AquaStar lists the cover as fitting all pre-VGB 8 inch AquaStar models, and American, Pentair, color match, Waterway and most Custom Molded (CMP) 8 inch round solid riser rings. The riser ring is also sold separately as part number A8RRxxx, where the xxx in every AquaStar part number is the color number. Replace the cover every five years from the date of installation.
