CaliMar Variable Speed Pool Pump, 2" Threaded Ports, 3HP

The CaliMar CMARVSP3.0 is a 3HP variable speed pump for inground pools, spas, water features and fountains, with 2 in. threaded ports and a permanent magnet motor. It is listed under the ENERGY STAR 2.0 pool pump specification.

Motor and hydraulics

The permanent magnet motor runs cooler and quieter than an induction motor and is totally enclosed and fan cooled, so the windings are protected from dust and damp on the pad. The diffuser and impeller are matched to move water at low speed with as little power and noise as possible, which is where a variable speed pump spends most of its life.

Wet end

Body parts are thick walled, corrosion-proof reinforced thermoplastic. The shaft is stainless steel and the mechanical seal uses carbon to ceramic faces. The strainer basket is oversized, and the see-through lid comes off and locks back on with a quarter turn, so a basket check takes seconds.

Installation notes

Both ports are 2 in. threaded. The pump is self-priming, so start-up after a basket clean or a winter shutdown is straightforward.
