The CaliMar CMAR15VS1.5 is a 1.5 HP variable speed pool pump with 1.5 in. threaded ports. It is sized for medium-head pools, which is most residential systems, so it reaches payback faster than the larger and more expensive variable speed pumps that are often oversold for the job.

Motor and hydraulics

The motor is a permanent magnet, totally enclosed fan-cooled design. It runs quieter with less vibration than an induction motor and delivers the efficiency that earns the pump its ENERGY STAR 2.0 listing. Inside, a diffuser and high-efficiency impeller are matched to move the most water for the least power.

Built to last on the pad

The wet end components are molded from corrosion-proof reinforced thermoplastic. The shaft is stainless steel and the mechanical seal uses carbon to ceramic sealing faces. The pump is self-priming, so start-up after a basket clean or a winter shutdown is quick.

Day to day

The see-through lid is an engineered polymer that stays clear, so a glance tells you whether the large strainer basket needs emptying. When it does, the lid comes off and locks back on with a quarter turn.
