The Coates 32012CE is a 12kW electric pool and spa heater built for 208 volt three phase power. It is the genuine Coates part, ordered by that number.

Why an electric heater

An electric heater has no burner, no flue and no combustion air requirement, which makes it the practical choice on sites with no gas service, on indoor pools and spas where venting a gas appliance is awkward, and anywhere a gas line run would cost more than the heater. In exchange it asks for a substantial electrical supply, which is why this model is built around a commercial style three phase feed.

Match the supply before you order

Voltage and phase are built into the heater, not selected at installation. This is the 208 volt three phase version, so the service at the panel has to be 208V three phase. If your supply is single phase, or a different voltage, a different Coates model is required.

Salt water

Coates lists this model as not salt compatible. If the pool is salt chlorinated, do not fit this heater to it. Choose a model that Coates rates for salt water instead.

Installation

Wiring belongs with a licensed electrician. Breaker sizing, conductor sizing and disconnect placement all follow the Coates manual and local electrical code.
