The Coates 12430CPH is a CPH Series electric pool and spa heater rated at 30kW on a single phase 240 volt supply. It heats with electric elements rather than a gas burner.
The digital thermostat
Coates carries the same core design across the series, but the larger heaters get a digital thermostat where the 12kW to 18kW models do not. That is the main practical difference in this size bracket: you set a number rather than a dial position, and the water sits closer to where you asked it to sit.
Electric instead of gas
An electric heater removes the whole gas side of an installation. No gas line to run, no flue to route, no combustion air to supply and nothing burning inside the cabinet. That makes it a straightforward answer for indoor pool rooms, sites with no gas service, and any job where venting a gas heater is the obstacle.
Plan the electrical first
The trade off is electrical demand. Thirty kilowatts is a serious load, so the panel, breaker and conductors have to be sized for it. Get an electrician to confirm the service before the heater is on site, and make sure the supply is single phase 240 volts, since the three phase heaters are different part numbers.
