The Coates 20006009 is a genuine replacement heating element rated at 12 kW on 240 volts, for Coates electric pool and spa heaters.
Match the rating first
Coates builds the same heater housing in several kW and voltage combinations, and the element is what sets them apart. Read the rating plate on your heater and order the element that matches it. A different kW element changes the load the heater, the breaker and the supply wiring were sized around, so a near miss is not a substitute.
When to replace it
Elements are a consumable in an electric heater. Scale build up and out of balance water shorten their life, and a heater that runs long without reaching setpoint, or that trips its element circuit, is the usual sign that one has failed. Testing the element before you order confirms it, and correcting the water chemistry afterwards is what makes the new one last.
