Product details
The Pentair 460925 is the pressure relief valve for pool and spa heaters, a genuine Pentair part.
What it is there for
A relief valve is a safety device and nothing else. If pressure inside the heater rises past the valve setting, whether from a closed valve downstream, a blocked line or a heater firing with no flow, the relief valve opens and lets it out. Everything else in the system assumes that valve works.
When to replace it
A relief valve that has lifted once often will not seat again cleanly, and one that has been sitting in pool water for years can corrode internally. A weeping or dripping valve is telling you it is finished. It is not a part to adjust, plug or leave for later. Confirm the port size and the valve part number on your heater before ordering.
