Product details

Pentair 473731Z is the replacement capacitor for the UltraTemp heat pump, rated at 440 volts and supplied with its mounting bracket. It fits the UltraTemp range with the exception of the 120C and 140C models.

What the capacitor does

The capacitor stores and releases the charge that gets the motor turning and keeps it running smoothly. When it degrades, the unit often hums without starting, trips the breaker, or starts and then cuts out under load. It is a cheap part sitting in front of much more expensive ones, so it is the sensible first check on a heat pump that will not run.

Bracket included

The bracket comes with the capacitor. That matters because the capacitor has to be clamped securely inside the cabinet rather than left loose against the wiring.

Check the model first

The 120C and 140C are excluded from this part number. Confirm the model on the data plate before ordering.

It is listed for UltraTemp heat pumps in general, with the 120C and 140C excluded. Those two models use a different capacitor.
