Quick overview

  • Rated 7.5/370 MFD The capacitance and voltage rating the fan motor expects, matched to the factory part.
  • Fits three models Listed for the EE2000, EE2500 and EE3000 heat pumps.
  • Genuine Jandy R3001100 The factory part number rather than a hardware store substitute.
  • The hum and no spin fault A failed run capacitor is the classic reason a fan motor buzzes but never turns.
  • Fan side, not compressor This is the capacitor for the fan motor, which is a separate part from the compressor capacitor.
  • Common wear item Capacitors dry out and drift with heat and age, and they are meant to be replaced.

Product details

Jandy R3001100 is the fan motor capacitor for the EE2000, EE2500 and EE3000 heat pumps, rated 7.5/370 MFD.

What a run capacitor does

The fan motor in a heat pump needs a phase shifted current to develop starting torque and to run efficiently. The capacitor supplies it. When the capacitor dries out or drifts away from its rated value, the motor no longer has what it needs, and the usual result is a fan that buzzes, gets hot and never comes up to speed.

Diagnosing before replacing

Turn the fan by hand with the power off. If it spins freely and the motor still only hums when energized, the capacitor is the prime suspect. If the fan is stiff or grinding, the bearings have gone and a new capacitor will not save it.

Safety

Capacitors hold a charge after the power is off. They must be discharged safely before anyone touches the terminals. If that is not familiar work, this is a job for a qualified technician.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

What is the rating?
7.5/370 MFD. That is 7.5 microfarads at a 370 volt rating.
Which heat pumps is it for?
It is listed for the EE2000, EE2500 and EE3000 models.
My fan hums but will not turn, is this it?
That is the textbook symptom of a failed run capacitor. Confirm the fan turns freely by hand first, so you are not replacing a capacitor because of a seized motor.
Is this the compressor capacitor?
No. This is the fan motor capacitor. The compressor uses its own.
