The Raypak P-R266A-EN-C #51, part 009221, is the high altitude version of the R266A digital natural gas heater. It is built for installations between 2000 and 6000 ft, where there is less oxygen in the air and a standard heater will not burn or heat the way it should. This model compensates for that, so combustion stays efficient and output stays consistent at elevation.
What you get
266K BTU of input, electronic ignition with digital controls, polymer headers and a copper heat exchanger. It is the same proven R266A platform that Raypak sells at sea level, adjusted for mountain installations, and it heats both pools and spas.
Check your elevation first
This heater is only for 2000 to 6000 ft. For pools closer to sea level, 0 to 2000 ft, the standard P-R266A-EN-C is part 009217 and is the one to order. Getting the altitude rating right matters for both performance and safety.

Is Raypak 009221 natural gas or propane?
Natural gas. Raypak builds the 266A for one fuel, and sells the propane heater as a separate part number. Its natural gas to propane conversion kits are sold by altitude.
Why is Raypak 009221 a high altitude heater?
It is jetted for 2,000 to 6,000 ft. Raypak sells the same heater jetted for three bands: #50 for 0 to 2,000 ft, #51 for 2,000 to 6,000 and #52 for 6,000 to 9,000, each under its own part number. This one is the #51 orifice.
What do the messages on the Raypak 009221 display mean?
The display names the switch that opened. Water Sw Open is the water pressure switch, Hi Limit 1 or 2 a high limit, Rollout Sw Open the flame rollout switch, and Ignition Lockout a pilot or main burner that did not light in time. Our pool heater error code guide lists them all and what to check.
What power and connections does Raypak 009221 need?
