Product details

CompuPool JD363PIPO is the pipe adapter O-Ring for a CompuPool salt chlorinator cell housing, sold one at a time. It is the seal at the joint where the pipe adapter meets the housing.

What goes wrong

Cell housing seals live in warm, moving, chlorinated water and they harden and flatten with age. Once the ring has taken a permanent set it no longer springs back against the sealing face, and the joint starts to weep. The drip is usually blamed on the adapter or the nut when it is the seal underneath that has failed.

Fitting it

Because it is sold individually, order one per joint you are resealing. Clean the groove and the mating face before the new ring goes in, and use a silicone based O-Ring lubricant so it seats evenly rather than rolling. The pipe adapter, adapter collar and housing nut are separate part numbers if any of those are damaged too.

How many O-Rings do I get?

Which seal on the housing is this?
The pipe adapter O-Ring, part number JD363PIPO. The electrode O-Ring for the clear cell housing is a separate part.
My cell housing is leaking at the union. Is this the part?
If the drip is at the pipe adapter joint, this is the seal to change first. Inspect the adapter and collar for cracks at the same time.
Do I need anything else to fit it?
Nothing beyond the seal itself. A light smear of a silicone based O-Ring lubricant helps it seat cleanly and is worth doing.
