Product details

JD363ECM is the CompuPool electrode o-ring for the clear cell housing, used on the CompuPool salt chlorine generator for inground pools in the CPSC series.

The joint it seals

A salt cell puts the electrode inside a clear housing so the plates can be inspected without disassembly, and that convenience creates a sealed joint the electrode has to pass through. The o-ring is what closes it. It sits in salt water, it is warmed and cooled with every cycle, and it is compressed the whole time, so it hardens and takes a permanent set. When it does, the housing weeps, usually slowly enough that the first sign is white crust on the outside of the cell rather than an obvious drip.

When to change it

Whenever the electrode comes out. Cells are pulled routinely for inspection and acid cleaning, and an o-ring that has been sitting compressed will rarely go back and reseal properly. Replacing it while everything is already apart costs a fraction of the trip back out to the pad. Seat it clean, free of grit, and use a silicone based lubricant rather than a petroleum grease. If the clear housing itself has cracked, the o-ring will not help; the housing body is a separate CompuPool part.

Then a new o-ring will not fix it. The clear electrode housing body is a separate CompuPool part, and a cracked housing has to be replaced.
