The Aqua Genie HG105 is the replacement face plate for Aqua Genie in ground pool skimmers.
What it does
The face plate is the ring that bolts over the skimmer throat where it meets the pool wall. Its job is mechanical: it clamps the face plate gasket flat so water cannot travel behind the wall or the liner at that opening. A cracked or warped plate stops applying even pressure and the leak follows.
Replacing it
Drop the water below the skimmer, undo the screws and lift the old plate off. Fit a new gasket while the plate is off, since it is the same job and an old gasket will not seal against a new plate. Draw the screws down evenly rather than tightening one side fully first.
