Product details

A two pack of Hayward skimmer face plate gaskets. The face plate gasket is the flat gasket that sits behind a skimmer face plate and seals it against the surface it bolts to, so water passes into the skimmer throat instead of behind it.

Why they are sold in pairs

Plenty of skimmers use two face plate gaskets, and both spend the same years in the same water. Once one has hardened or taken a set, the other is usually no better, so the pair is replaced together. A gasket that no longer compresses evenly is a common reason for a leak that shows up at the skimmer rather than at the pipework.

How many gaskets are in the pack?
Two. This is the two pack, so a skimmer that uses a pair of face plate gaskets can be done in one go.
Why would I change both gaskets at once?
Where a skimmer uses two face plate gaskets, both have aged the same length of time in the same water. Replacing only one leaves an old gasket clamped alongside a new one, and the seal ends up uneven.
Could a bad face plate gasket be causing my leak?
It is one of the usual causes. A face plate gasket that has hardened or taken a permanent set no longer seals when the plate is bolted down, and water escapes at the skimmer throat.
