Hayward SPX1091G is the butterfly gasket for the SP1091 standard mouth skimmer. It is the genuine Hayward part, listed with the above ground and spa skimmer family.
Where it sits
The gasket goes between the skimmer body and the pool wall, cut to the butterfly profile of the skimmer face so it lines up one way only and seals the full opening. The faceplate screws clamp it. Everything about the joint depends on that gasket still being flexible enough to compress.
The leak nobody finds
On an above ground pool, a slow loss that stops when the water drops to the skimmer line usually points straight at this gasket. It goes brittle with sun and chemistry, cracks along the screw holes, and then no amount of tightening will pull the joint closed. If the skimmer is coming off the wall for any reason, put a new gasket in while it is apart. Note this is the standard mouth gasket; a wide mouth skimmer takes a different part.
