The Hayward SPX1090D is the replacement face plate for the SP1090 and SP1092 aboveground pool skimmers. It is the genuine Hayward part.
What the face plate does
The face plate is the outer half of the skimmer sandwich. It sits on the inside of the pool wall and pulls the skimmer body tight against it, so the whole assembly stays square and sealed while water flows through the throat.
When to replace it
Plates take years of sunlight and, in cold climates, repeated freezing. They crack at the screw holes, warp, or simply lose the flatness that lets them clamp evenly. A skimmer that seeps at the wall after the gasket has already been changed is usually telling you the plate is done. Gaskets are not included here, so order them at the same time if the skimmer is coming apart anyway.
