Product details
The Hayward SPX1097D is the plastic face plate for the SP1097 and SP1098 inground skimmers. It is the genuine Hayward replacement.
What the face plate does
The face plate is the flat ring that clamps the skimmer throat against the pool wall with the gasket sandwiched between. It carries the screws, holds the assembly square and keeps the seal even all the way around. When it cracks, chips at a screw hole or warps, the clamping force goes uneven and water finds its way behind the skimmer instead of through it.
Ordering
The plate is sold on its own. If the skimmer is coming apart anyway it is worth replacing the gasket at the same time, since that is the part actually doing the sealing and it hardens with age.
