Product details

The Hayward SPX1084L is the skimmer face plate for the SP1084 and SP1076 Auto-Skim vinyl skimmers.

What it does

On a vinyl pool the faceplate is the piece that clamps the liner against the skimmer throat. It is holding the seal at one of the few places where the liner is deliberately cut, which is why a cracked or warped plate turns into a leak rather than a cosmetic problem.

Dimensions

The plate is 10-3/4 inch wide and 8-9/16 inch high, with an opening of 7-5/8 inch by 5-5/8 inch. Skimmer faceplates look similar across brands and model years, so measure the one on your pool before ordering.

What is not included

The plate comes on its own. The gasket that sits behind it and the screw set for these skimmers are separate parts, and both are worth renewing at the same time since the liner is already unclamped once the plate is off.

What are the dimensions?
10-3/4 inch wide by 8-9/16 inch high, with a 7-5/8 inch by 5-5/8 inch opening.
Do the screws come with it?
No. This is the face plate on its own. The screw set for the SP1076 and SP1084 skimmers is a separate part, as is the face plate gasket.
Why replace a faceplate at all?
They crack around the screw holes, warp, or go chalky and brittle after years of sun. A cracked plate stops clamping the liner properly, and that is where leaks at the skimmer usually start.
