The Hayward SP1094D Skim Vac plate turns the skimmer into the vacuum port. It measures 5-1/4 inches in diameter, carries a hose elbow listed for 1-1/4 and 1-1/2 inch hose, and Hayward lists it for the SP1094 and SP1095 skimmers.
What it changes
Vacuuming through the pump strainer basket means the debris ends up at the pump, and emptying it means shutting the pump down, opening the lid and priming again. With the Skim Vac plate the debris is caught in the skimmer basket instead, so the basket comes out, gets emptied and goes back with the pump still running.
Using it
The plate sits over the skimmer basket. Connect the vacuum hose to the elbow, let the hose fill so there is no air in the line, and vacuum as normal. Measure your skimmer opening against the 5-1/4 inch diameter first, and check the part number against your skimmer, because Hayward sells several plate versions.
