Why replace all three
Water drives the turbine, the turbine drives the gear cassette, and the cassette is what steps the valve from one zone to the next. When indexing gets slow, sticks on a zone, or stops advancing altogether, the fault is usually spread across the turbine and the cassette rather than sitting in one of them. Changing the pair at the same time is the difference between a valve that indexes cleanly again and one that is back apart a month later.
Sealing it back up
The lid comes with its o-ring, so the valve seals properly once it is closed. An old lid o-ring that has flattened or taken a set is a common source of weeping around the valve after a service.
