How an in-floor head works
An in-floor cleaning system feeds pressurized water to a group of heads set flush into the pool floor. When a head takes pressure it rises, sweeps its jet across an arc of floor, then drops back level so nobody catches a foot on it. The heads run in sequence, and between them they push debris toward the main drain.
When to replace one
Because the heads work in a rotation, a single failure is easy to miss until debris starts collecting in one patch of floor every cycle. Watch a cycle run and look for a head that does not rise, or that rises but no longer turns through its pattern. That is the one to change.
