The Therm Products C2400-C333-01 is a flow thru heater rated at 4kW on 240V, supplied under the Balboa brand as the replacement for the original heater assembly.

How a flow thru heater works

The heating element sits inside a housing that the circulating water runs through. Heat goes into the water as it passes, so the system only heats while the pump is moving water. There is no tank of heated water waiting, which is why a flow thru heater needs the pump running to do anything at all.

Match the numbers

The same heater body is built in more than one rating, so both figures matter. This one is 4kW and 240V. Check them against the heater currently fitted along with the part number C2400-C333-01, since a mismatched rating will not do the job the controller expects of it.

What to order with it

The 2 inch heater o-ring and gasket is a separate part. Anyone opening the plumbing to change a heater is already at the point where a fresh seal costs almost nothing and saves a second trip, so it is worth adding.

What does flow thru mean?
Water is heated as it passes through the heater body while the pump is running. There is no reservoir holding heated water.
Do I need a new o-ring or gasket?
It is not included. A 2 inch heater o-ring and gasket is sold separately, and replacing it at the same time as the heater is the normal practice.
