Product details

The Pentair 261142 is the hi-flow side mount valve kit in the 2 inch size, the genuine Pentair replacement for the backwash valve that sits on the side of a DE filter tank. Pentair lists it for FNS, FNS Plus and NSP filters.

What the valve does

The side mount valve is the handle you turn to send water through the filter, out to waste on a backwash, or to close the tank off for service. When the internals wear, the valve starts passing water to waste while in filter, sticks between positions, or leaks around the shaft. At that point rebuilding a badly worn body is usually poor value against fitting the complete kit.

Check before you order

Two things decide whether this valve fits. The first is size: this is the 2 inch hi-flow body, and a 1.5 inch side mount tank needs the smaller kit. The second is spacing: the valve is built around a 7.5 in. centerline between the valve and filter ports, so measure the two ports on your tank.
