This King99 panel is cut for a 12 x 20 ft rectangular inground pool with no step to work around. The fabric measures 14 x 22 ft, which is the pool plus a foot of overlap onto the deck on each side once the straps are tensioned onto the anchors. On a pool this size the whole cover is manageable by one or two people, because mesh is the lighter of the two fabrics to handle.

• The weave stops 99 percent of ultraviolet light, which slows algae over a closed season.

The pool is 12 ft wide, over the ASTM F1346 threshold, so its static load figure is 485 lb rather than the 275 lb applied to covers 8 ft wide and under. That load is put on as 210, 225 and 50 lb over one square foot each, all inside a 3 ft radius. A winter cover is an other cover under the same standard and is not a barrier, which is why section 8.12 requires the classification on the label.
