Product details

This Royal cover suits a 14 x 28 ft rectangular inground pool with the step centered on one end wall. The step section is 8 ft wide and 4 ft back from the pool at the water line, so measure your own step both ways and compare. The panel is cut larger than the pool so fabric lands on the deck all the way round, which is the overlap the anchors are set into.

  • Green mesh, listed at 4.5 oz per square yard with a 385 PSI burst rating.
  • Rain and melting snow go through the weave into the pool instead of collecting.
  • Straps every 5 ft in both directions, each one anchored in the deck.
  • Brass anchors and collars resist corrosion and tamp down flush.
  • Stainless springs, a rod, a tamping tool and a storage bag are supplied.

Drainage is written into the standard rather than left to the maker. ASTM F1346 asks in section 7.3 that a safety cover clear substantially all standing water within 30 minutes of the rain stopping, and a mesh panel does that by letting it through instead of moving it to an edge. That is also why no pump belongs on top of one. A winter cover is a different animal: the standard files it under other covers, says it is not a barrier for a child under five, and puts it through none of these tests. PoolTux warrants this cover for 15 years, the first 3 full.

What size pool does this cover fit?
A 14 x 28 ft rectangular inground pool with the step centered on one end. The panel is cut larger than the pool on all four sides so that fabric reaches the deck for the anchors. Take your measurement at the water line rather than across the coping.
How fast does the cover clear standing water?
ASTM F1346 asks in section 7.3 that a safety cover shed substantially all standing water within 30 minutes of rainfall stopping. A mesh panel meets that by letting the water through into the pool, so it never has to run anywhere to drain.
Do I need a cover pump for this one?
No. Because the weave drains into the pool, no water collects on the surface. The thing to watch instead is the pool level, which rises through the winter and may need pumping down before opening.
Can I use a winter cover instead?
A winter cover is a different product under ASTM F1346. The standard groups it under other covers and states it is not intended as a barrier for children under five, and it faces none of the section 7 tests. Section 8.12 requires the classification on the label, so you can always check which one you have.
