Product details

Cut for a 14 x 28 ft rectangular inground pool with no step, this Royal panel measures 16 x 30 ft. The extra foot on each edge is overlap onto the deck, where the straps run down to the anchors. Buyers sometimes order by the panel figure and end up a size out, so measure the pool itself at the water line.

Blue mesh fabric, published at 4.5 oz and rated 385 PSI for burst strength.
The weave passes rain and snowmelt into the pool, so no water sits on top waiting for a pump.
Straps run on a 5 by 5 ft grid, tensioned with stainless steel springs.
Flush mount brass anchors and collars are made not to corrode and drop level with concrete or paver decking.
An installation rod, a tamping tool, and a storage bag come with the panel.

Under ASTM F1346 this is a manual safety cover, a different class from a winter cover, which the standard files under other covers and says is not meant as a barrier for children under five. The section 7 static load test is the reason for the difference. PoolTux lists 15 years limited here, the first 3 full.

Why is the cover bigger than the pool?

The panel is cut at 16 x 30 ft for a 14 x 28 ft pool, so a foot of fabric sits on the deck along each side. That margin is where the straps and anchors go, and it is what lets the cover be pulled tight over the water. The number to buy by is the pool size.

How can I tell a safety cover from a winter cover?

Read the label. ASTM F1346 requires under section 8.12 that the label state which classification the cover is, and that is the only reliable way to tell. A winter cover sits in the other covers class and is not a barrier for young children. This panel is sold as a safety cover made to meet ASTM F1346.

Do I need more algaecide under a mesh cover?

Usually yes. Mesh lets some daylight reach the water, which is enough for algae to get going over a long closed season, so the algaecide dose is commonly doubled under a mesh cover. Check the label on the product you use for its own closing instructions.

How long is the warranty on this cover?

PoolTux publishes 15 years limited on the Royal line, with the first 3 of those years full. The terms come from the maker, so keep the paperwork that ships with the cover and the record of when it was bought.
