Product details

This solid Emperor panel fits a 16 x 32 ft rectangle with the step centered on one end. The step section measures 8 ft across and 4 ft back from the pool at the water line, so take a tape to your own step before ordering. The cover itself is 18 x 34 ft, a foot wider than the pool on each side.

Blue PVC laminated fabric at 12 oz per square yard, listed at 400 PSI burst strength.
Nothing passes through a solid panel, so daylight and debris both stay out of the water.
The Aquaduck channel crosses the cover to keep rain from standing in puddles.
Straps sit on a 5 by 5 ft grid, each one pulling against its own brass anchor in the deck.
Anchors tamp down flush with concrete or paver decking and come up with a hex key.
Springs, anchors, an installation rod, a tamping tool and a storage bag are all in the package.

Plan on a cover pump. Solid fabric keeps water on the surface, and ASTM F1346 section 7.3 expects a safety cover to be clear of standing water within half an hour of the rain stopping.

Will this cover reach over my steps?

The step section is 8 ft wide and comes 4 ft back from the pool at the water line. Measure your own step the same two ways, across the wall and out into the water, and check both numbers fall inside those. A step wider or deeper than the panel allows will not be covered.

What is the difference between the 16 x 32 and the 18 x 34 figures?

The first is the pool, the second is the cover. A safety cover is ordered by the pool it fits, and the maker builds in a foot of overlap on each side so the webbing clears the coping and reaches the anchors. Ordering by the fabric size puts you two feet oversized both ways.

Does a solid cover need a pump?

Yes, treat one as part of the kit. Water does not pass through solid fabric, so rain and melting snow stay on top. PoolTux builds the Aquaduck channel into the panel to stop puddles, and lists a mesh drain panel or a pump as the ways the water actually leaves. Mesh covers are the ones that need no pump.

Can this cover take the weight of someone falling on it?

That is what the standard is for. ASTM F1346 section 7 loads a cover on a pool more than 8 ft wide with 485 lb, applied as 210, 225 and 50 lb, each over a square foot and all inside a 3 ft radius, and a narrower cover with 275 lb. This is sold as a safety cover and built to meet ASTM F1346. It is still not a surface to walk on by choice.
