Product details

This King panel is ordered for a 16 x 32 ft rectangular inground pool with the step at the left end. Step hand is read from the shallow end looking down the pool, so check which side yours is on before you buy. The fabric measures 18 x 34 ft, a foot beyond the pool on every side for the deck, and the step panel is 8 ft across and comes 4 ft back at the water line.

  • Solid green fabric listed at 7 oz per square yard with a burst strength of 350 PSI.
  • Nothing passes through the sheet, so no daylight reaches the water and no rain enters the pool.
  • A drain channel runs the length of the panel and a mesh drain panel clears the surface, with a cover pump as the alternative.
  • Straps sit on a 5 by 5 ft grid, pulled down through commercial springs.
  • Brass anchors tamp flush into concrete or paver deck and wind back up with a hex key.
  • Anti rub strips take the wear where the webbing passes over the coping.

The standard behind a safety cover is ASTM F1346. Its section 7 static load test applies 485 lb to a panel on a pool more than 8 ft wide, split into 210, 225 and 50 lb over one square foot each within a 3 ft radius, with 275 lb the figure below that width. Anchors need deck all the way round the pool to fasten into, and the water level should stay near normal so it can support the panel under snow.

Is my pool a left step or a center step?
Stand at the shallow end and look down the length of the pool. If the step is on your left, a left step panel is the one to order. This cover is the left step version for a 16 x 32 ft rectangle, and the step panel will not lie correctly over a step on the other side.
Why is the cover bigger than the pool?
The pool is 16 x 32 ft and the panel is 18 x 34 ft. That extra foot on every side is the overlap that reaches the deck and takes the strap tension when the cover is pulled down onto the anchors. Always order by the pool measurement taken at the water line.
Does a solid cover need a pump?
Water cannot pass through a solid panel, so it stays on the surface. PoolTux drains this one through a channel running the length of the cover and a mesh drain panel built into it, and lists a cover pump as the other way of clearing it. That is the real difference from a mesh cover, which drains into the pool and needs no pump.
How do I tell this apart from a winter cover?
By its classification, which section 8.12 of ASTM F1346 requires the label to state. Section 4 of the standard sorts covers into powered safety covers, manual safety covers and other covers, and a winter cover is in that last group, explicitly not intended as a barrier for children under five. Only a safety cover has to pass the section 7 tests.
