This Royal cover is cut for a 16 x 32 ft rectangular inground pool with the step centered on one end wall. The panel measures 18 x 34 ft, so about a foot of fabric reaches the deck on every side once the springs pull it down. The step section itself is 8 ft wide and comes 4 ft back from the pool at the water line, which is the pair of numbers to check against your own step before ordering.

• Blue mesh listed at 4.5 oz per square yard with a 385 PSI burst rating.
• Rain and snowmelt go through the fabric into the pool rather than collecting on it.
• Straps run 5 ft apart both ways, and each one finishes at an anchor in the deck.
• Brass anchors and collars will not corrode and sit flush with the deck when the cover is off.
• Stainless steel springs, an installation rod, a tamping tool and a storage bag come with it.

A safety cover earns the name by passing the section 7 tests in ASTM F1346. The static load test loads a cover on a pool wider than 8 ft with 485 lb, split into weights of 210, 225 and 50 lb, each over a single square foot and all set inside a 3 ft radius. Narrower covers face 275 lb. A winter cover is not tested at all, because the standard files it under other covers and says it is not a barrier for young children.
