Product details

This King99 panel is cut for a 16 x 34 ft rectangular inground pool with no step section in the fabric. The panel measures 18 x 36 ft, and the surplus foot on each side is the overlap that reaches the deck once the springs are tensioned.

  • Green mesh listed at 7 oz with a burst rating of 670 PSI.
  • Rain and melting snow drop through the weave into the pool, so nothing sits on top of the cover.
  • Ninety nine percent of the ultraviolet light is held out, which is what keeps algae slow while the pool is closed.
  • Flush mount brass anchors tamp level with concrete or paver decking and wind up with a hex key.
  • Tension-Tech springs let the panel be pulled up tight, and anti rub strips keep the webbing off the coping.
  • Anchors, stainless steel springs, an installation rod, a tamping tool and a storage bag come with the cover.

A safety cover and a winter cover are different products. Under ASTM F1346 a winter cover is an other cover and is not intended to act as a barrier for a small child, while a safety cover has to pass the section 7 tests. That static load test puts 485 lb on a panel on a pool more than 8 ft wide, applied as 210, 225 and 50 lb, each over a square foot and all inside a 3 ft radius. This cover is built to meet ASTM F1346.

What size pool does this cover fit?
It is cut for a 16 x 34 ft rectangular inground pool. The fabric itself is 18 x 36 ft, and that spare foot on each side is the overlap that lands on the deck once the springs are drawn down. Measure your own pool at the water line, wall to wall, before you order: a safety cover is bought by the pool size, not by the panel size.
Is a winter cover the same thing as a safety cover?
No. ASTM F1346 sorts every pool cover into a powered safety cover, a manual safety cover, or an other cover, and a winter cover sits in that last group. The standard states that an other cover is not intended as a barrier for children under five. Only a safety cover has to pass the section 7 tests, and section 8.12 requires the label to say which classification the cover is.
Do I need a cover pump on top of this cover?
No. The weave carries rain and snowmelt straight down into the pool, so nothing collects on the surface for a pump to move. A solid cover is the opposite case: it holds water on top and does want a pump.
What happens to the pool water level under a mesh cover?
It climbs through the winter, because everything that falls on the panel ends up in the pool. Close at the level the cover manufacturer allows, commonly no more than about 18 in below the top of the pool, since the water underneath is what supports the panel when snow loads it. Look at the level once or twice over the season and draw off the excess if it reaches the coping.
