Product details

The Swimline HydroTools 8220 is an 18 inch curved pool brush with a reinforced aluminum back and five rows of nylon bristles.

Why the backing matters

Most of the difference between a cheap brush and a good one is the back. A flexible plastic head bows away from the wall as soon as you lean on it, so the pressure you apply never reaches the bristles. The aluminum backing here holds the head flat, which means the scrubbing effort actually lands where the dirt is.

Coverage and bristles

At 18 inches wide with five rows of nylon bristles, it clears a wall in fewer passes than a narrow three row brush and puts more bristle on the surface each pass. The curve helps it follow the wall as it turns into the floor.

What it handles

Nylon is the general purpose bristle for pool surfaces, and this combination of width, rows and a stiff back suits routine brushing as well as working at stubborn stains and algae.
