The Swimline HydroTools 8210 is an 18 inch curved brush with a plastic back and nylon polybristle, for scrubbing pool walls and floors. It fits standard pool poles.
Why the curve
A flat brush loses contact wherever the surface bends. The curved back on this one keeps the bristle row against the wall as it rolls into the cove at the floor, which is exactly where algae and dirt film like to sit. It also makes light work of rounded steps and the radius behind ladders.
Bristle choice
Nylon is the general purpose bristle. It is firm enough to break up film on plaster and gentle enough for vinyl and fiberglass, where stainless bristles would do damage. The plastic back matters for the same reason: nothing on it can rust and leave a stain on the finish.
Working with it
Brush toward the main drain in overlapping passes and work the walls before the floor so what you loosen settles where you finish. Do this before vacuuming rather than after, and give the filter time to pick up what you put into suspension.
