Product details

This King99 panel is made for an 18 x 36 ft rectangular inground pool with the step centered on one end. The fabric runs 20 x 38 ft, which is the pool plus a foot of overlap on each side for the deck, and the step panel is 8 ft across and 4 ft back at the water line. Measure your own pool and step before ordering; a safety cover is built to the pool, not to whatever cover came off it last spring.

  • Blue mesh at 7 oz with a burst strength of 670 PSI.
  • The weave passes rain and snowmelt into the pool, so nothing stands on the surface.
  • Ninety nine percent of ultraviolet light is blocked, which slows algae over a closed season.
  • Straps run on a 5 by 5 ft grid through commercial springs that let the panel be drawn tight.
  • Brass anchors tamp flush into concrete or paver deck and wind back up with a hex key.
  • Anti rub strips sit where the webbing crosses the coping.

ASTM F1346 is the reason a safety cover is worth the anchors. Section 7 loads a cover on a pool more than 8 ft wide with 485 lb, applied as 210, 225 and 50 lb over a square foot each inside a 3 ft radius. Anchors need deck all the way round, and the water should sit no more than about 18 in below the top of the pool so it can carry a snow load.

What size pool is this for?
An 18 x 36 ft rectangular inground pool with a step centered on one end. The 20 x 38 ft figure you will see alongside it is the cover size, which is the pool plus a foot of overlap on each side. Order by the pool, measured at the water line.
How do I tell a safety cover from a winter cover?
Read the label. Section 8.12 of ASTM F1346 requires the label to state which classification the cover is, and section 4 of the same standard puts a winter cover in the other covers group, which is explicitly not intended as a barrier for children under five. Only a safety cover has to pass the section 7 load and drainage tests. This one is built to meet ASTM F1346 as a safety cover.
Do I need a cover pump for this?
No. Mesh drains through, so rain and snowmelt end up in the pool rather than on top of the cover and there is nothing for a pump to remove. Watch the water level instead, because it rises through the winter on a mesh cover and wants checking before you open.
Will it fit over my step?
The step panel here is 8 ft wide and 4 ft back at the water line. Measure your own step along the wall and then out into the water and compare both figures against those. If your step is wider than 8 ft or comes further than 4 ft into the pool, this panel will not sit over it.
