Product details

Tan mesh, cut for an 18 x 36 ft rectangle with the step in the middle of one end. The step section is 8 ft wide and comes 4 ft back at the water line. The panel measures 20 x 38 ft, and that spare foot on each side is the overlap that carries the straps out to the deck.

  • King99 mesh at 7 oz, with a burst strength listed as 670 PSI.
  • Rain and melting snow run through the weave into the pool, so no water stands on the panel.
  • The fabric holds out 99 percent of the ultraviolet light, which is what slows algae over a closed season.
  • Straps sit on a 5 by 5 ft grid, each one pulling against its own brass anchor.
  • Flush mount anchors tamp level with concrete or paver decking and rise with a hex key.
  • Springs, anchors, an installation rod, a tamping tool and a storage bag are included.

Mesh means the pool level rises all winter, so close within the maximum the manufacturer allows, commonly about 18 in below the top, and check the level again before opening. The water under the cover is what supports it when snow lands, which is why that maximum exists at all.

What pool does this cover fit?
An 18 x 36 ft rectangle with the step centered on one end. The 20 x 38 ft figure is the fabric, sized a foot larger on each side so it laps the coping and reaches the deck anchors. Measure the pool at the water line and order by that.
How large is the step section?
Eight feet wide and 4 ft back at the water line. Measure your own step along the wall for the width and out into the pool for the depth, and both have to fit inside those numbers. A step that runs wider than 8 ft will not be covered by this panel.
Is a safety cover strong enough to hold an adult?
ASTM F1346 section 7 is the test that answers this. A cover on a pool more than 8 ft wide has to carry 485 lb, applied as weights of 210, 225 and 50 lb, each spread over a square foot and all placed inside a 3 ft radius, and a narrower cover is tested at 275 lb. This panel is made to meet ASTM F1346. The point of the test is an accidental fall, not walking on the cover.
Do I need extra algaecide under a mesh cover?
A doubled dose is the common approach. The weave screens out 99 percent of the ultraviolet light, but some daylight still reaches the water through a mesh panel and that is what algae works with. Rain also passes through all winter, so the pool is being diluted as well as lit.
