Product details

An 18 x 40 ft rectangular pool with no step takes this Royal mesh panel, which is cut at 20 x 42 ft. The extra foot on each edge is the deck overlap that gives the straps their run down to the anchors. A panel this size is worth measuring for twice: take the pool at the water line, wall to wall, and order against that.

Blue mesh fabric, published at 4.5 oz with a 385 PSI burst rating.
Rain and snowmelt drain through the weave into the pool, so nothing sits on the surface needing a pump.
The strap grid is 5 ft square and tensions against stainless steel springs.
Brass anchors and collars set flush in concrete or paver decking and are made not to corrode.
Springs, an installation rod, a tamping tool, and a storage bag come with the cover.

Before closing, set the water where the cover maker asks, commonly no lower than about 18 in below the top of the pool. That water is what carries the snow load through the panel, and with mesh the level rises again as rain drains in. PoolTux publishes 15 years limited on this line, the first 3 full.

What size pool does this cover fit?

An 18 x 40 ft rectangular inground pool with no step. The fabric is cut at 20 x 42 ft so it can overlap onto the deck, which is not a pool dimension. Measure the pool at the water line, wall to wall, before you order.

Can I use a winter cover instead?

They are not the same class of product. ASTM F1346 sorts covers into powered safety covers, manual safety covers, and other covers, and a winter cover is an other cover that the standard says is not intended as a barrier for children under five. Only safety covers are put through the section 7 tests. This panel is sold as a safety cover made to meet ASTM F1346.

How far down should the water be for the winter?

Only as far as the cover maker allows, commonly no more than about 18 in below the top of the pool. The water is what holds the cover up under a snow load, so dropping it further weakens the whole arrangement. Mesh drains rain back in, so the level climbs again and should be looked at before opening.

What is the mesh fabric rated at?

PoolTux publishes the Royal mesh at 4.5 oz with a burst strength of 385 PSI and calls its protection level very good. It is a lighter fabric than the heavier lines, which makes a panel this size more manageable to pull on and off.
